Vampires and vultures

Valjevo - Čačak - Guča - Ivanjica - Uvac - Studenica - Ibar – Kraljevo

 

 

Day one

- Departure from Belgrade

- Trip to Valjevo and visit to the vampire mill - Did you know that the word "vampire" is of a Serbian origin? We will show you the mill where the world's first vampire quenched his thirst for blood. 

Tasting traditional Serbian plum brandy (rakia) in the restaurant Tadić's Mill, near the Gradac River - Rakia is a Serbian national drink, made of plum, following the original recipe. Over 3000 hectares of plum tree was planted only in the region Jadar. 

- Lunch in Čačak, in a local restaurant with roasted pork as a part of Serbian tradition.

- Following the road across Kosjerić and Čačak to Guča. Short break in the world capital of trumpets - Guča – Dragačevo, where annual brass trumpet festival is held. Every year, thousands of visitors from Serbia and abroad, visit the town with several thousand inhabitants. Top number of visitors was recorded in 2008 when, according to data about 650,000 people visited this festival. Several documentaries were filmed about this popular event.

- Checking into Hotel Park 4 * in Ivanjica or to Ethno apartments in picturesque surroundings - Hotel Park is part of the Best Western hotel chain and is among most modern hotels in this part of Serbia. Premium service is completed by wellness center, including spa center with indoor pool, Finnish sauna, steam bath, sun terrace, fitness centers, massage and aroma therapy, etc. 

- Dinner with music in the oldest pub in Ivanjica, “Bankruptcy” or near a waterfall on Moravica hydroelectric plant, one of the first power plants in

Serbia. Café is located near the hotel.

 

-       Return to the hotel.

-       Overnight

 

 

Day two

- Breakfast.

- Walk along the center of Ivanjica that has preserved the traditional baroque architecture

- Departure to the ranger’s camp on the river, at the entrance to a nature reserve Uvac River Gorge - Central morphological entity represents the canyon of the river Uvac with the valleys of its tributaries. Its stunning meanders bring special value to the canyon. Meander headlands have a relative height of up to 100 m. The environment is composed of lime rocks and fields. Caves are numerous and vary in size, from rock shelters, to the largest so far known cave system in Serbia, as Ušac cave system (6185 m). The cave is characterized by abundance of jewelry deposited from underground water in the form of stalactites, stalagmites, columns, draperies, glassy needles, etc. Special Nature Reserve Uvac distinguishes the presence of 104 species of birds. The biggest attraction of the reserve is the Griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus). Griffon Vulture is a kind of eagle, vulture, imposing size, with a wingspan of up to 3 meters. This makes it a powerful flier with flight studied by scientists – aeronautic engineers and applied in aircraft construction.

- Sailing by boat through the Uvac River meanders.

- Entering the Ice cave, directly from the river

- Swimming in the gorge below the medieval fortress Klek.

- Joining the jeep safari over dirt roads and fields of Pešter highlands, to the Prayer viewpoint, which offers fantastic view and where from one can see eagles flying below.

Safari in return

- Upon arrival, barbecue and the famous cheese of Sjenica awaits you on the beach.

- Return to the hotel in Ivanjica.

- Dinner with music in a waterfall bar

- Return to the hotel. Overnight.

Day three

 

- Breakfast.

- After breakfast, departure to the monastery Studenica - Studenica Monastery is one of the largest and richest monasteries of the Serbian Orthodox Church. It is founded by the founder of the Serbian state, Stefan Nemanja in 1190. The fortified walls of the monastery are surrounding four churches: Παρθένος and Kings Church (Saints Joachim and Anna), both built of marble, the church Nikoljača (Nicholas church) and another church preserved in the foundations. The monastery is known for its collection of frescoes from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. UNESCO included Studenica in the list of World Heritage Sites on 1986.

- Visiting a small town of Ušće (confluence), at the confluence of rivers Ibar and Studenica

- Putting on rafting equipment and boarding onto rafting boats

- Rafting and BODY RAFTING through the canyon of the Ibar River. Rafting is accompanied by professional guides - the skipper, in modern raft8ng boats with all the necessary equipment - helmets, uniforms and shoes from neoprene.

 

- Short tour to the Fort of Maglić - one of the well-preserved medieval Serbian fortresses, in the gorge of the River Ibar. The gorge was named Valley of Lilac, after lilacs that the King planted inspired by his love.

 

- Lunch in the ethnic restaurant.

- Return to Belgrade.
