Mediterranean wine background - jeep adventure

Belrade - Stanišići - Sarajevo - Trebinje - Tvrdoš - Višegrad - Mokra Gora - Belgrade

Day one

- Meeting of the passengers in the parking lot of Hotel Continental in the morning.

- Jeep ride to the ethno village Stanišići, near Bijeljina (Bosnia&Herzegovina) - Village "Stanišići" beyond the present time and space, takes us back to ancestors and nature making us admire the simplicity of the former way of life. Here you can rests your eyes and soul, here you become nobler and wiser listening murmuring streams and the watermill”. Village Stanišići was established in 2003 thanks to the inspiration of Boris Stanisić. Over several years he traveled through Serbian villages in central Bosnia in search of old houses and objects that will preserve the image of the time and living culture from the past and early twentieth century. The result is an authentic mountain village in the middle of Semberian plain. The village has two parts, one showing secular life and was made of wood. It consists of wooden houses - chalets with furniture that belonged to them for centuries. Houses are connected by stone paths, and there are two lakes in the village center. The second part is of religious character, with the medieval architecture, built of stone, which is actually a set of replicas of historical and religious significance.


- Continuing the trip over Romanija and Jahorina mountains to Sarajevo.

- Visiting Sarajevo, free time for sightseeing of the old part of the town – Baš čaršija.

- Trip to Trebinje town.

- Arrival in the evening. Accommodation in hotel "Platani" 4 * located in the center, housed in a stone building from the early 20th century combining modern interior and traditional architecture. Another option is a modern hotel “Leotar”.

- Dinner. Overnight.

Day two

- Breakfast. After breakfast visit to Trebinje Gračanica church, offering beautiful view of Trebinje. This is the place where famous Serbian poet, Jovan Dučić was buried.

- Continuing by jeeps to the Austrian Fortress of Strač, which has eight floors underground, incredible steel dome at the top and the water system that still works

- Tour to the house where St. Vasilije of Ostrog was born, in the village Mrkonjići and church in karsts field Popovo.

 

- Check out the property of Vukoja family, with century-long tradition of wine production. Visiting vineyards, picking grapes, wine tasting and lunch in the restaurant cellars.

- Return to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight

 

Day three

- Breakfast.

- After breakfast, leaving the hotel and departure to the monastery where St. Vasilije was ordained - Tvrdoš. The monastery is famous for its wine cellar.

- Driving to Višegrad Bridge that is used for 400 years now. A book written about it ("Bridge on the Drina”) received the Nobel Prize.

 


 

 - Continuing the journey and arrival to the city of Emir Kusturica, Mećavnik at Mokra Gora. Mećavnik, the ethnic village is made of old log cabins from the area and is nowadays a centre of the International Film Festival - Kustendorf.

- Drive to the home of prophet in the Kremna village - Kremansko prophecy is a collection of prophecies of  Zlatibor Tarabić family. It was named after Kremna, a village in the north of Zlatibor Mountain, where the family lived. Tarabići allegedly predicted the invention of television, telephone and telegraph coming to Serbia, the shift to the Serbian throne; doom of Obrenović dynasty and then their return to the country. They also predicted the arrival at the head of the country of the “Red Tsar with a star on the forehead” - a reference to Tito. Tarabići have enjoyed high reputation among many people.
