Belgrade-Zlatibor-Mokra Gora-Šargan-Tara-Ljubiš-Rožanstvo-Belgrade

Day one

- Departure from Belgrade

- Visiting the monastery in Nikolje at Ovčarsko Kablar gorge - Monasteries in Ovčar Kablar Gorge of the West Morava river, originate from the 13th and 15th century. Basically they were raised and settled by the Serbian monks of Mount Athos, or from exiled monks from the holy mountain of Sinai, and hence is the name ‘Serbian Holy Mountain’. Scribal schools were located in these monasteries where a copying activity was developed. One of the oldest Ovčar-Kablar monasteries is the Monastery Nikolje. It had up to 300 monks, according to records. The time of its origin cannot be accurately determined, even with an icon on wood from 1489, which until World War II was kept at the National Museum in Belgrade.

- Visit to Ethno Village Terzića garden in the village Zlakuse - Ethnic Park "Terzića avlija” is located near the center of the village, on a hill, beneath the beech forest. This garden represents a typical rural property consisting of two old Serbian houses (one of which is 100 years old and built of brick underdone with a roof on four sides, covered with old plain tile). One house shows every day family life in one place and the other is used as a guest house. In the backyard there are a few domestic buildings (dairy, sheds, farm ...

some newly built summer houses, a small summer theaterand a log cabin for sale of souvenirs) and a 12 meters deep well, with cold water, which was built in memory of Gvozden and Milisav Terzić (uncle and nephew) - who have been shot by Germans on 1941. The trademark of Terzića garden is a Serbian soldier in uniform from the period of the Balkan wars (1912-1913) in the Serbian peasant shoes, made from ash wood (height 190 cm)

- Lunch

- Walk to the Potpećka Cave - Potpeć cave is located near Zlakuse village, with a cave hole 72 meters high, and is one of the caves with highest entrance in Serbia and beyond. Cave entrance itself, viewed from the inside of the cave, has a contour resembling an elephant. The cave has two entrances, top and bottom one - the lower from which periodic water stream flows when the water level increases. This stream is connected to another one in making the river Petnica which flows into the river Djetinja after 2km. On Petnica River there are fifteen ponds with rainbow trout and several mills and a waterfall.

- Departure to Zlatibor and hotel accommodation

- Dinner and Overnight

Day two

- Breakfast

- A walk to the market in Zlatibor and morning coffee by the lake – Zlatibor Mountain in the southwestern part of Serbia was the destination for the wealthy since the mid-seventeenth century, and a place of temporary residence of those who are, above all, searching for health, but also for peace at slopes of Zlatibor, where a body restores energy.

However, the real tourism was developed only after the crowned head, Serbian King Aleksandar Obrenović came to visit. In the beginning the most interesting was the King's Water spring, a place where His Majesty had lunch at, but soon the word spread for other Zlatibor sites as well: Palisad and Ribnica became famous. And then, another Serbian King came to stay – Petar I Karadjordjević, in 1905. After his stay, the first major building was constructed: "King's waters" Hotel - today a convention center Serbia with hot summers and mild winters.

- Departure for Mount Mokra

- Drive by Šargan Eight - The so-called Šargan Eight is part of the railway gauge lines between Užice and Višegrad, over the Šargan hill. This track has many bridges and 19 tunnels, the longest is Šargan being 1660.80 m.

By the number of bridges and tunnels, and the rise of 18 per thousand Šargan Eight is unique in Europe. The construction of this narrow gauge railway was started by the Austrians in 1916, when Serbia was under their occupation. After nearly a decade of construction, it has become the architectural wonder, what has remained until today. The reason for this is overcoming altitude of about 300 meters above sea level between Mokra Valley and Šargan passes. Austrians had promised freedom to the engineer, sentenced to life imprisonment, if he managed to resolve the problem.

- Visit of Emir Kusturica’s Mećavnik - Ethno Village Mećavnik, known as the "Wooden Town" is on the same hill Mećavnik in Mokra Gora near the "Šargan’s Eight". After passing the high city gate, you enter right to the main street paved with wooden sleepers at the end of which is a small wooden church. You feel an unreal and fairy tale fantasy world created by Emir Kusturica, the film genius. There are cafes, old wooden houses typical for the area of the Tara mountain. Some were brought here from the Republic of Srpska, some were built from scratch while respecting the traditional architectural style of the Old Masters...

- Departure to Tara Mountain- Tara is located in the western part of Serbia, and belongs to the inner belt of the Dinarides and occupies an area of 183 km2. Tara has the length of 50 km, a width of 22 km and has an average altitude of 1,200 m. The highest peak is Goat hill - 1591 m. It belongs to a group of mountains and has a complex geological history and diverse petro graphic structure. Tara is an 80% area of forest ecosystems. It has 34 forest and meadow communities detected. Of the 53 species of mammals, as they were recorded at Tara, the most attractive are the brown bear and wild goats. Of 135 species of birds, 43 are migratory and special emphasis is given to the most vulnerable species such as eagles, hawks and other scavengers. In the forests of Tara there are more than 251 species of fungi, of which 3 are poisonous. Fishing in the waters managed by the Tara National Park is a real pleasure. These waterways inhabited about 40 species of fish (salmon, grayling, catfish, carp, mrena.jez ...). The area of Mt is rich in archaeological sites dating from the Neolithic to the middle Ages. Known as a necropolis - tombstones in Perućac, are the remains of medieval fortifications of Solotnik and Rača monasteries, founded by King Dragutin Nemanjić in the 13th century.

- Visit to the Home of the Prophets

Prophecy of Kremna

It is said that Kremna stone have magical powers and that Kremna village is almost impossible to be sharply recorded from satellite. Kremna Prophecies are collection of prophecies that have been written before twentieth century events that they describe.

Illiterate peasants Miloš and his nephew Mitar Tarabić built a reputation for predicting future. Their village priest recorded some of their predictions which seemed to have been very precise and not hidden like Nostradamus prophecy. Even more they never made mistake, to this very day. They predicted First and Second WW, fall of the Serbian dynasty, fall of communism, etc. Both Tarabićs died before 1900. You can find simple translation from Serbian to English, prepared by Robert Gakovich.

Here is one of Tarabić’s predictions about future wars:

Future Wars

"After the second great war, people will not fight with such intensity for a long time. There will be wars, but they will be smaller wars [smaller than the second great war]. Thousands and thousands will be dying in these small wars, but the world war will not happen yet." Analysis of the prediction: Generally accurate.
