Knez Milos raised in 1836 a residence for monks, and Prince Alexander in 1849 gives the shrine for the relics of King Stefan of Decani. During the 19th century monastic buildings were restored.
Decani Church of Christ Pantocrator is among the largest construction of medieval Serbia. Decani church was built of marble slabs in two colors. According to its complexity church is in harmony permeation of Western elements - Romanesque and Gothic, and Eastern - Byzantine style with the existing traditions of Serbian art. Painting of Decani church lasted from the end of construction 1335th up to the 1350th and several artists were the best painters of Dushan's Empire. By the number of characters and scenes, and overall painted surface, Decani were leader of Serbian fresco painting art of the Middle Ages.

In the monastery there is a fresco of Crucifixion of Christ, which many people, not versed in Byzantine philosophy, associate with the UFO, because of human personifications of the sun and moon.
