"Now, setting tents, the dwelling was marveling at beautiful place, because is the highest places, enriched trees of many, and branch-riched and largely fertile, and as flat and grassy, and the sweetest water flow from all sides. There rise great springs and powere its clear rivers, which makes water taste great before and gives flush to face, and after swalaw great body feeling, so that many can’t get enough of this water. From western side, it is in the shade of great mountains, and hence there is a healthy air. On the east side of this place it is wide field, irrigated the by same river. Such is therefore the place of honor and worthily to raise the monastery "(Gregory Tsamblak).
Knez Milos raised in 1836 a residence for monks, and Prince Alexander in 1849 gives the shrine for the relics of King Stefan of Decani. During the 19th century monastic buildings were restored.
Decani Church of Christ Pantocrator is among the largest construction of medieval Serbia. Decani church was built of marble slabs in
two colors. According to its complexity church is in harmony permeation of Western elements - Romanesque and Gothic, and Eastern - Byzantine style with the existing traditions of Serbian art. Painting of Decani church lasted from the end of construction 1335th up to the 1350th and several artists were the best painters of Dushan's Empire. By the number of characters and scenes, and overall painted surface, Decani were leader of Serbian fresco painting art of the Middle Ages.
In the monastery there is a fresco of Crucifixion of Christ, which many people, not versed in Byzantine philosophy, associate with the UFO, because of human personifications of the sun and moon.
