Monastery Sopoćani
Today it is difficult to specify when Sopoćani were built. The most probable is the assumption that the monastery was built in the second half of the reign of King Stefan Uros I, probably around the 1260. A detour led this conclusion, since it is a reliable conclusion that the frescoes of the monastery were painted in the sixties of the thirteenth century.
During the period of Ottoman rule in the seventeenth century, the monastery was significantly damaged and was rebuilt in the early decades of the twentieth century.
After the restoration Sopoćani were female monastery. After the arrival of ten monks and novices from the monastery Black River 1996 the monastery became mail again, as it was in the Middle Ages.
